I can understand your reasoning. I upgraded to a max account a while back and enjoy the service. However, I have a few extra twitter accounts that I was maintaining with an additional Pluggio free account. I enjoyed being able to login on occasion and use a platform that I was already familiar with for limited following and unfollowing and posting. Now I'll have to find another solution and may end up switching everything to that to keep things simpler.

It would be nice if you had an option with more than twenty Twitter accounts. I know it could be abused by spammers, but you could probably put limitations on the extra accounts. Just an idea.

I have been a paying customer for some time. I think the service has tremendous value for such a great price. I have also received the best customer support of any service to date on the net. I totally support the decision and can appreciate it as a small business owner.

Pluggio has evolved since I joined and become better and better. I imagine the progress will only improve with paying customers.

Justin,

I appreciate you always considering the customers ideas for improvements & thank you for giving such wonderful support :-)

I am sure you have made the right decision, and it is a shame so many people expect everything to be free on the internet (I note people asking for alternatives already since the announcement). The subscription fees seem pretty low to me.

I wish you the very best of success.

Maybe in the future, you will be of sufficient scale and be able to differentiate paid and unpaid options well enough to make the freemium model work for you again.

When? ...or are we to assume this is effective immediately?

As I'm an adherent supporter of "small developer customer focused software " (by that I mean projects like Pluggio, 1Password, GoPlan, etc...). I'm going to put in my 2 cents on Pluggio and on freemiuim.

First I like Pluggio and I'm honestly undecided on whether I'll transition to paid or not. I've been considering transition to paid for a long time and my partner has her own paid account (she works social media far more than I). I'm still not sure of it's value to me personally but the switch at least forces me off the fence in one direction or the other.

I'm very happy at some of the improvements to Pluggio (auto-complete, DM and @, Get Full Conversation, etc...) over the months I've used it, but the main thing I started using Pluggio for was scheduling (mostly out of RSS feeds) and finding/purging followers, both of which still seem lacking to me.

On the positive stuff, Justin you are a wonderfully responsive developer and I sincerely appreciate that. I don't think anyone should hesitate to switch to paid over concerns about support or continued development.

On the last two issues... I've found Twitter's change in TOS to prevent editing RSS Feed links to be annoying and to reduce the utility of Pluggio for me as I want the freedom to use my own url shortener which I can track clicks on. Second UX wise I wish Pluggio at least showed me the link (screened back to indicate it as not being editable) so I could see it was there, it's confusing that it doesn't appear when editing and posting... for weeks I thought I couldn't edit anything in the title and then that if I did the link wouldn't be included.

Friend Finder is wonderfully powerful but a PITA to setup. UX wise it needs work to make it simpler for "normal" twitter users to use and mange. Perhaps I just need to revist the wonderful tutorials you've provided (by the way when are these going to stop wasting screen real estate?) Anyway I think it's beyond the scope of Pluggio (and probably any application) but what I'd like is some way to cross reference friend finder with more detailed statistics like those provided by Twitalyzier, Tweet Grader, etc...

Final on Freemium... I'm a Wordpress developer and I'm sure that colors my view of the things... but I like freemium models that charge for support. It's probably too late now, but IMHO the free version of Pluggio should have limited lists to 5, Scheduled tweets to 5, and not offered support. Support/Tutorials could have/would have required at least a one month subscription. Nothing is perfect in this regard, just my thoughts on a strategy.

All the best to you Justin, hope this change works out.

It should start working now. You will need to login to pluggio for at least 10 mins about 2 times a day. And then you will start to see some suggestions come in by tomorrow.

Thanks for getting back to me. I also received your e-mail and I sent you one back.

Yes you hit the nail on the head I was referring to the friend recommendations. I would love to figure this out in order to grow the twitter side of my business.

Let me know the outcome of your research.

@Felisha Wild - Thanks very much for your comment :)

Re: The service that hasn't been working for you. I'm guessing you mean "Friend Finder". Friend Finder is a funny beast because of the intricate settings that are possible. Most of the time when it doesn't work for people it's because they have the friend-follower ratio set to low, which in effect disables friend finder. It's on "Friend Finder > Other Settings > My current follower-to-friend ratio is X% stop making friend suggestions if it goes below X%"

However I can assure that Friend Finder does work! To date Friend Finder has made 840,230 Friend Suggestions to Pluggio's user-base of 5000 users.

Send me an email if you would like me to have a look into your account and see which settings may be effecting the system for you.

Hi there Justin,

I can certainly see why you would make this decision to move away from the freemium model. However I wanted to give my side of why I will not be making the jump to a paid service.

I have been using Pluggio for a few weeks now on and off and the one feature of Pluggio that I really desired hasn't worked at all for me. Why would I pay for a service that hasn't worked from day one as a free service? I think you realize that I wouldn't and I won't. The purge part of Pluggio works fine but that doesn't really help me to grow my following now does it.

I wish you all the best in your endeavors to build your company and company's following but I just thought that you should know at least one person's side of the story.

Regards,
